WHAT IS PSYCH SCREEN TRYING TO DO? While psychological testing can provide vital clinical information, especially at the time of intake, such testing is often under utilized due to high costs, limited availability of Psychologists specializing in testing and the logistics of testing. This is to the detriment of our clients. We hope to get around these barriers by making computerized psychological testing more timely, comprehensive and cost effective, so that testing can become a larger part of your practice. As our name implies, our reports are not meant to replace full scale psychological evaluations. Rather they provide cost effective screenings meant to assist the decision making of skilled clinicians. Indeed our reports may suggest the need for further face to face individual evaluation. WHAT DOES PSYCH SCREEN SELL? Psych Screen, Inc. sells computerized Psychological Test interpretive software that can be used on site to generate reports that provide comprehensive clinical information. WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT YOUR REPORTS? As we are not a test publisher, Psych Screen is free to integrate information from up to 12 different tests to get you a more complete evaluation. A Personality test alone will not provide information on IQ level, Organicity or Learning Disorder. Nor may it be the best screen for Addiction or Addictive tendencies. Our reports are unique in using a Cognitive Behavioral model to identify Thought Errors, criminal characteristics and motivations, risk/needs assessment, risk factors mitigating risk and likely relapse triggers to assist triage and treatment making decisions and aid clinicians assess potential dangerousness. Only PSYCH SCREEN gives you the option of using specialized tests to obtain information on both normal and deviant sexual functioning. ARE YOUR REPORTS VALID? All Psychological testing is suggestive and needs to be understood in light of each client's unique history and clinical presentation. Psych Screen is not a new Test, rather it is a new and unique way of combining information from a number of well researched tests, each with its own validity and interpretive literature. All tests used in our batteries are well established and widely used by psychologists. Our reports include validity scale findings for Psychiatric, Personality and Addictions measures which should be used in understanding other test findings. BUT ISN'T THIS ALLOT OF TESTING? WON'T MY CLIENTS OBJECT TO BEING TESTED? NO! We have carefully chosen specific tests to measure relevant dimensions. In addition you can administer any combination of tests that meet your clinical needs. A basic screening Battery (Shipley, MCMI and SASSI) can be completed in 45 minutes. It has been our experience that if properly explained, Clients feel that testing helps their therapist better and more quickly understand them and are please by their therapist's thoroughness. It is amazing how often clients agree with test feedback which gets around resistances and helps the client feel more understood. WHY SHOULD I TEST MY CLIENTS? Initial accurate diagnose and rapid intervention are all important for effective interventions. Testing gives you an almost immediate, objective Second Opinion to clarify diagnosis, identify personality and other factors that may interfere with therapy, fine tune interventions and treatment plans and speed therapy via the increased client insight and rapport that is gained from test feedback. Testing further documents individualized treatment needs and can be used for Utilization Review, practice management, Quality Assurance/outcome studies, Research and Program development. WHAT DO YOU CHARGE FOR TESTING? Unlike other companies, Psych Screen gives you the option of buying unlimited use single test software or per use software that interprets multiple tests so that you may select the option most cost effective for you . As our goal is to make psychological software more accessible for routine screening, our per use charge is about 25% of what others typically charge for interpreting 1 test alone, with our price for unlimited use single test software being about half the price that you would expect to pay for such software. Remember these prices do not include purchase of test materials or scoring. ISN'T TESTING EXPENSIVE? No, it pays! Not for what you get and the time it will save you. Our software is often the least part of your expense. Even if you buy all test materials for a basic battery from scratch, just use the software 3 times and the per report price is less then $100 dollars, which is far less then what it would cost you in time to generate a 20 page report. At just 10 uses the price per use is $40.00, while at 100 uses the price drops to $12.50 per report including software, test booklets, answer sheets and scoring templates. CAN PARAPROFESSIONALS USE YOUR REPORTS? While it is encouraged for a psychologist to review test findings, especially in light of test validity scores, our software does the work of a Psychologist in interpreting what the test scores mean. Every attempt has been made to write our reports in plain English with test results presented in simple, every day language that is readily understood by paraprofessional staff. Many reports also include a summary section that make salient findings easier to understand. DOES YOUR SOFTWARE ADMINISTER AND SCORE THE TESTS? Alas, no. Due to Copyright laws, we are unable to reproduce test items or score tests. However, you can either have a secretary hand score tests or use test publisher software to score tests, and then use Psych Screen software to interpret these scores and still save almost 50% over what the test publishers charge for their interpretive reports. We wish things were otherwise. WHAT DOES YOUR ON SITE SOFTWARE DO? After scoring the tests, you simply enter demographic information and test scores. At the touch of a button, a report is generated and sent to the word processor of your choice, where you can edit and print the report or cut and paste it into other reports. A copy is saved on your hard drive for latter reference. It is suggested that our program be used on your local drive to ensure test result confidentiality. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PROCESS REPORTS ON SITE? Once scored, reports can be entirely processed in 5-15 minutes, depending what tests are administered. A PENTIUM 600 machine can interpret test data and produce a report in less then 10 seconds. WHAT IF I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS? Psych Screen knows that we all start out this way and so has tried to make our software very user friendly. Spend an hour with our manual, it's time well spent. A 386 IBM compatible computer (486 DX/66 or better recommended) with 4 megs of RAM, 15 megs of hard drive space and WINDOWS (95, 98, NT, ME, 2000, XP) are needed to generate a report.
