PERSONALITY ADJECTIVE CHECKLIST INTERPRETIVE REPORT

Mr. Sample was referred for psychometric screening to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. To this end, Mr. Sample completed the Personality Adjective Checklist.

The test findings reported below are based on Mr. Sample's responses to the PACL, a widely used standardized psychological test. As with all such tests, the validity of test results is limited by Mr. Sample's honesty and self-awareness.

The following report should be taken as generalized probability statements that are made without benefit of clinical interview or history. Further clinical verification is needed to assist in the interpretation of test findings in light of Mr. Sample's unique history and present circumstances.

As the following Psychological Test results were designed primarily for Diagnosis and Treatment Planning purposes, the findings below focus on problems, deficits and pathology and so may de-emphasize Mr. Sample's strengths. Because of this, use without collaboration, other then for the Clinical Screening purposes for which they were intended, may be misleading.

The following is a CONFIDENTIAL REPORT meant for qualified Mental Health and AODA providers. While feedback of test findings to clients is highly encouraged and should be an integral part of therapy and treatment planning, clients should not be directly given copies of this report as they are likely to misunderstand report contents and their tentative nature.

VALIDITY

In testing Mr. Sample checked a below average amount of adjectives as describing him which may decrease test scores.

Mr. Sample's response pattern does not appear to be random.

He showed severe tendencies to depict himself in an overly positive light which probably effect the validity of test findings.

Tendencies to depict himself in an overly negative light were not apparent in testing.

PERSONALITY FUNCTIONING

Mr. Sample's personality problems are significant and of moderate severity. The Personality problems described below are probable to be a contributing factor to other psychological problems as they interfere with Mr. Sample's ability to function productively.

Mr. Sample's testing indicates significant Histrionic and Passive-Aggressive features that are probable to effect daily functioning.

Mr. Sample is a contrary and negative person who indirectly controls others without taking responsibility. He uses passive-aggressive means to resist authority while trying at the same time to court favor. While maintaining good intentions, he frustrates demands by being inefficient, stubborn, and incompetent.

Mr. Sample's interpersonal behavior is often attention seeking and exaggerated as he wishes to be the center of attention. Relationships are often superficial, codependent, and conflictual as many control issues exist. He adopts a seductive, flirtatious stance to seek help, not sexual gratification and can be oppressively demanding. Mr. Sample has little empathy or understanding of the effects of his behavior on others. Faultfinding is common as Mr. Sample focuses on problems without seeing positives and blames others for his difficulties.

Mr. Sample's thought patterns are impressionistic and lacks sharpness. Mr. Sample is not rational or analytical as he lives in a nonfactual world based on emotional reactions and underlying emotional conflicts. Based on intuitions, he looks for magical solutions to problems which results in poor judgment.

Repressed negative feelings can build until with little awareness Mr. Sample dramatically overreacts to minor problems. When repression fails, his exaggerated and changeable feelings can lead to acting out. Mr. Sample engages in subtle attacks, blame, insults, and complaints to express underlying anger.

Maladaptive behavior is most often based on underlying emotional conflicts or rebelliousness.
